First things first

Delanco and Delran are two different towns

Delanco and Delran sound alike for a reason. Both names were made by blending Delaware and Rancocas, the two waterways that meet at their shores. They are separate townships with separate governments and separate tax rates, and they sit on opposite sides of Rancocas Creek with Riverside Township in between.

Delanco itself has had more than one name. It was created in 1859 as Beverly Township, carved from Willingboro Township, and was renamed Delanco in 1926. Beverly City and Edgewater Park were later formed from its land and are separate towns today.

Neighborhoods

A town shaped by two waterways

Delanco is bordered by the Delaware River and Rancocas Creek, and much of the town's character comes from that water. Delaware Avenue runs along the river, the Riverside Delanco Bridge crosses the creek, and U.S. Route 130 marks the southeastern border with Willingboro Township.

  • Along the Delaware River: Delaware Avenue and the riverfront, home to the Zurbrugg Mansion and the RiverWalk on the Delaware townhouses.
  • Along Rancocas Creek: The creek side of town, where Pennington Park and the Rancocas Creek Greenway Trail follow the water.
  • Hawk Island: An uninhabited peninsula of about 118 acres at the southwestern corner of the township, built up over decades by river dredging deposits.
