First things first

Delran and Delanco are two different towns

Both names come from blending Delaware and Rancocas, the two waterways that meet here, so the mix up is easy to make. Delran and Delanco are separate townships with separate governments and separate tax rates. Riverside Township sits between them along Rancocas Creek.

Delran was formed in 1880 from part of Cinnaminson Township, and part of Delran later became Riverside Township in 1895. Because the names are so close, we check the municipality on every Delran search.

Neighborhoods

Named places across the township

Delran borders Cinnaminson, Delanco, Moorestown, Riverside and Willingboro townships, with Philadelphia across the Delaware River. Several older place names still mark sections of town, and some reach across the line into neighboring townships.

  • Bridgeboro: A long established community that lies partly within Delran.
  • Cambridge and Chesterville: Older named localities inside the township.
  • Fairview, Milltown and Riverside Park: Other place names that lie partly or fully within Delran.

Worth knowing: Delran has water on two sides, so ask for the flood zone and flood history on any home near the Delaware River, Dredge Harbor or Rancocas Creek. For townhouses and condominiums, we read the association documents early so the rules and fees are clear.
